Bon, le baron va sans doute pas être content, mais je ne me sens pas de tout traduire là comme ça tout de suite.
1k/1k: Settings of nearly all multiplayer games : 1000 metal and 1000 energy A4F: Acid foursome, the map Adv: Advanced, meaning the 2nd and 3rd level units, weapons and factories. For example, Adv. Con Veh (Advanced Construction Vehicle). AFK: Away From Keyboard, said of a user logged in but not in front of his screen AI: Artificial Intelligence. BAI: Bloodthirsty AI, an AI that cheats a lot. BB: Big Bertha, Arm long range artillery cannon. Sometimes used to mean Intimidator as well, since it is the Core equivalent of the BB. BLoD: Blue Laser of Death, weapon of the Annihilator, Doomsday Machine, Shooter, Penetrator, and Krogoth. BSoD: Blue Screen of Death, when Windows dies. BSR: Brave Sir Robin, an early modder. He's still around. BT: Battle Tactics : the worthless expansion pack BT: Build Time, a set amount of time to wait on the game clock before anyone is allowed to attack each other. This is a rule for people who hate getting attacked early in a game. You might see "20 min BT" in the game info. It's not really that common for people to use Build Times anymore but you might still see it in newer players' games. BTW: By The Way BY: Boneyard, Cavedog former gaming service (199? - ???? R.I.P.) Hey, anyone can give me the dates ? C2C: Coast to Coast, the map CC: Core Contingency expansion pack. CC: Conflict Crusher CC: Comet Catcher, the map CD: Compact Disc CD: Cavedog, the company who made TA and TA:K Com: Commander Con: Construction unit, be it Vehicle, Kbot, Aircraft etc. Sometimes it is followed by an abbreviation of the type such as Con veh or Con air. Cons: see con CT: Chris Taylor, TA creator CTA=Crazy TA: 10k/10k, Metal Heck, 20 unit limit, Permanent LOS. I only played 1k/1k, Metal Heck, 25 unit limit, real LOS, but enjoyed it C-: see cons (e.g. C-veh). Def: Defense in its most general sense Def: Defender Arm Missile Turret, also used for its Core equivalent Pulverizer DGun, D-gun, and its compound (D-gunned, D-gunning) : the commander big weapon, able to desintegrate almost anything in one shot. DL=D/L: download, downloading DS: Dark Side, the map DS: Dark Sun, the first TA space based mod, by Dawn Falcon DS: Dungeon Siege, Chris Taylor latest game DT: Dragon's Tooth, name of TA small piece of wall DX: Direct X, the microsoft set of drivers DX: Design-X, the site DX: Design-X, the guy DY: Dark Youth, who runs PA E: Energy, one of the two TA ressources EMG: Energy Machine Gun. This is an Arm-only weapon carried by the Peewee and Warrior Kbots, Flash tank and Brawler gunship. It is a rapid-fire weapon that is known to create a lot of lag mainly from the amount of packets it sends out and the large amount of sound effects that it creates. Sometimes (because of this lag) players will not allow EMG in their games meaning that you cannot build any of the above-listed units. Also when EMG is banned it is often a given that the CORE equivalent units are not allowed as well. This means the A.K. kbot, Instigator tank and Rapier gunship (these units do not have EMG, but fill the same niche as the ARM units mentioned above). Fark: Fast Assist and Repair Kbot, one the 6 latest official units Fark: swearword FF: Freedom Fighter, cheapest attack plane FFA: Free For All Flour: replacement for a censored word FP: FilePlanet, PA download system : download queue, compulsory registration, advertisment, and general annoyance. FU: FileUniverse, TAU answer to FP. Currently in the making. FYI: For your information GBL: Gaming Battle League, a fan-made TA gaming client acting as a Boneyard replacement GD: Great Divide, the map GD2: Great Divide 2, the map GG: Good Game, tradionnal saying at the end of each game GH: Greenhaven, the map GL&HF: Good Luck and Have Fun, tradionnal saying at the beginning of each game GW: Galactic War, a meta-game invented by BY, now only available at GBL and PW. GW: Ground War, set of rules saying: no aircraft, no nukes, no LRPC (i.e. Big Bertha, Intimidator, Vulcan, Buzzsaw). GW are often played on the third party map GD2. GoW: Gods of War, the map GPG: Gas Powered Games, Chris Taylor new company HLT: Heavy Laser Turret/Tower, "Sentinel/Gaat Gun" JP: John's Pass, the map KotH: King of the Hill, the map LHG: Lava High Ground LLT: Light Laser Turret/Tower LMAO: Laughing my @$$ off LoL: Laughing Out Loud. Yes, I had to ask it once in the GBL lobby. LRPC: Long Range Plasma Cannon : Big Bertha, Intimidator, Vulcan, Buzzsaw M: Metal, one of the two TA ressources Marathon: Special type of games developped by the ISJX clan. Its complex set of rules are : West vs Easts on Painted Desert, or its modified equivalent, starting with max ressources (10k/10k), no air at all (not even cons planes), no EMG, no BB/Timy, only one Buzzsaw per team, only 2 nuke silos per players, 10 or 15 minutes of build time during which you aren't allowed to cross mid-map. Later were added the rules : only level 2 units, building in the 1/3 of you territory near the middle line disallowed (particularly on the central hill). Sometimes only 1 nuke per player to prevent the anti-nuke jamming bug.
Thanks gix!
