Having recently gotten Homeworld ($10) and played it a lot, I have to say
that TA is still the best game around.
NO RTS has been as good.

It's depressing, isn't it? TA was released what, ten years ago?

I also just recently played Homeworld for a few days and eventually got
sick of its lock of unit options. Hate how selecting a unit did not
display its path or target. The 3D was awesome and it was very amusing
to watch the ships interact with one another (e.g., watching damaged
ships dock in the support frigate 8 at a time), but all in all the game
forced the player to do a lot of micromanaging of their units. I refuse
to perform that degree of micromanagement.
