Kingdoms Iron Plague - To Buy or not to Buy?

Having succeeded with TA + CC I'm now tempted to buy Kingdoms the expansion
from the US by the same Auctions/Sellers route.
I've never seen it in the UK - is it a worthwhile purchase? I know it's
going to be OK but
I 've always found Kingdoms a bit disappointing and don't want to waste
money if it doesn't add much.

Depends what is was *you* found "disappointing" about Kingdoms.

TA:K was never TA, but in its own right does hold a certain, if
lesser, fascination. Despite my personal love of TA and recognition of
it as THE RTS game yet to be bettered, I think that Kingdoms is still
the most beautiful RTS game ever made.

Essentially IP will give you another race, the mechanized Creon, along
with more terrain types, another single player campaign & more maps,
the few official downloadable units that were made available by
Cavedog and the final patch including their now defunct Boneyards
interface.

With the memory, graphic adapters and CPU grunt now de rigueur even in
today's entry level PCs, *patched with the latest patch* available
from Cavedog, the game now plays nicely in terms of graphical
capability and computational speed. Bogdown of both was the game's
nemesis at the time of its ambitious original release.

But you asked about IP. For my money, if you'll play it and moderately
like the game, I think it's worth it if reasonably priced.

Yeah it's worth the buy if the prize is reasonable
TAK is played on a really different level then TA you have to be in the mood
for it atleast I have to be.
but this expantion is the last thing cavedog relaesed and therefore a must
have for a real TA/cavedog fan.
