Thanks for the link to http://stratagus.sf.net

Before starting your own TA2 project, maybe you could have look at the
already existing community made TA sequels, there's quite a lot of
unfinished projects :

Machinations:
http://machinations.sourceforge.net

Palito
http://palito.9hells.org

Project Godevac
http://godevac.tauniverse.com

Springs
http://www.clan-sy.com/download/

TA revival
http://revival.tauniverse.com

OpenGL TA, Flashback, Shattered Realms, Project Hardpoint, V.I.C.E.

... and all those I don't know about.

Oh, and sorry about the double post, but I just remember that I forgot
to mention what could also be considered as another community made TA
sequel, Unreal Annihilation, due to be released tomorrow :
http://ua.tauniverse.com/ As the name says it's a reproduction of TA
in an Unreal Tournament 2003 / 2004 mod.

And there's also someone who announced he was working on implementing
an interface to allow playing, and not only watching, TA games under
the Swedish Yankspanker 3D demo replayer, but apparently he dropped to
join project Godevac.
