Multiplayer with AI players

Ive been playing TA for many years with a number of human players
allied togetjher against a similar number of AI players allied
together and it works really well, especially if you use some of the
cheating AIs.

What Im trying now to do is to play a multiplayer game with a human
player allied with an AI player, against another human player allied
with another AI player and this doesnt work properly.

What always seems to happen is that the opposing AI players wont shoot
at each other, or sometimes one AI player will fire on the other, but
the other wont shoot back.
Also sometimes, one of the human players will fire on the AI that hes
allied with.

Has anyone been able to do this sort of thing successfully?

Hi, I've been playing TA since it first came out. I've been playing
multiplayer with my friends over dialup and now over Road Runner. One
problem that I've always had with the game that no patch has ever
fixed was this: When I create a game over TCP/IP and my friends join
it and we both add our AI's I can never target their AI. They can
target me fine and my friends can always target my AI. It always works
this way. The HOST can never target at least one of the client
players' AI. It happened with normal TA and with TACC after it came
out. I've never had this problem solved for me. Try it for yourselves.
If two humans are in a game and the humans are allied together and
their AI's are both allied together the host will not be able to
target the client's AI.
IF however I click on a unit with a gun and manually press attack on a
spot where an enemy AI unit is, the unit will be destroyed if it
doesn't move. The host's defenses will not target the AI which is
especially annoying when they send planes. Also as soon as the host's
AI is destroyed the game will end for the host but the other human
player will still be in the game and still be able to fight against
his AI.
If anybody has any way to correct this please let me know. Thanks for
any help.

This is a well known TA bug.
If you don't want to get to this bug when you play multiplayer,
add the AI players at the end when you all humans have chosen your
color, your side, your allies. Don't ally yourself (all human) with
the first sign but at least the second and ally the AIs with the first
sign.
If you come to circle through the Ally sign with one of the AIs you'll
have the problem you mention !!
hope this help !!!

Many thanks , this is exactly what Im after.
If you are interested in trying some differant types of TA games
a good one is using the TAUCP unit set with 3 human players allied
together against 3 cheating AIs allied together.
All human players start at the same place (you have to mod the map
starting positions to do this.)
The human players are all in the middle and the AIs are in the
corners.
Maps like Assault on Arakis or Armaggedon are good for this.
Its utter hell, most of the time the AIs win.
