TA & Win2k = ?(

Having problems running TA on Windows 2000 - worked fine in win98 with same
hardware.
When it starts it shows an error saying there may be problems with the
current version of direct X.
All the menu's take ages to be drawn, and starting a game takes ages,
whereupon the sound is all distorted and crackly.

Anyone else running on win2k / know how to solve this?

I've not really had those problems...I get the DirectX message, but I just put that
down to TA being not really designed for NT, and not being able to tell the
difference between pure NT and Win2K.

What's your specs? What version of DirectX are you using? You've not given us much to
work with here.

Upgrade to DX 8.1 and see if that helps. I run it w/o issue on XP. Also,
make sure your compatibility files are up to date in Win2k.

I also had problems with W2000. It crashed when loading some maps.
The problem solved when i did a complete reinstalation ( Original TA , then
CC , then 3.1 patch)

Seems that some 3rd party units or utils (TA recorder ...) where the
problem.

PS ignore the warning about direct X
I have Athlon 1,7 + 256RAM + Nvidia TNT2 + direct x8

bah bloody ntl news server = crap :/

ahem.

I got directX 8.1 already...
Found the problem from many web searches: had to reduce my directX sound
accelleration to 'basic' in dxdiag.

cheers,
Martin
