if you are playing a campaign, it might simply be that the level you're on
doesn't allow it...

No. This is the regular TA installation. I'm not playing the CORE side -
playing the 'other' side. That one unit is grayed out and I can't build it.

When you install the latest patch the Core Contingency units appear in the
build menu but are grayed out. You will not be able to use these units
unless you either a: Install CC or b: download the CC unit pack (the cause
of many great debaits)

I would point out a download site for you, but finding the site is as hard
as finding the expansion in the shops.

no ... if its grayed it means u have the unit, but all of ur opponents dont have it (caus it is included in the cc pack)
