Couple of TA questions

Hi everyone

I just recently started playing TA again and I was wondering if there
was anyplace I could get some maps? I would really like to find a max
size water map with a couple of good "main" islands and a few little
ones. I've been trying to make one with the map editor but I'm having
problems adjusting the terrain levels.

My other question is; Is there a way to adjust the build restrictions
in an SP game? An editor perhaps?

Err, actually I have one more question (I know I only said "a couple").
Is there a way to turn *down* the pathfinding on the water units? My
battle ships (and others, but mostly the BSs) will end up spinning
around trying to hit the waypoint.

Thanks for any help

Mark R.

Thanks, lots of good things at that site, I spent all my free time
before work today DLing stuff :)

One more quick Q if you don't mind......

Does the "commander pack" include "core contingency" + "battle
tactics"? I don't have any of the addons and I need to know what to go
buy this weekend.

Thanks again

Beware! :)

I don't know. I have one copy of TA+CC+BT that also came with a nice
TA strategy guide and such, but I don't recall what the package was
called and don't have the box anymore. Just a sec...

[...Deja Search in progress...]

Yes, it does. :) To find information such as this, I find the
following site to be handy:

http://www.exit109.com/~jeremy/news/deja.html

It's a front-end to Google's USENET search engine that I find to be a
little more user-friendly than Google itself.

I'm still looking for work -- see web site for resume.

With some editing it is possible to change the unit restrictions in the
single player missions. I replayed all campaings with all units enabled and
my own AI profile for the computer. Made it quite interesting. :)

With the cavedog mapmaking tool TAE u can also assign unit restrictions to
missions.

LOL, yeah, thankfully I have a cable modem, otherwise I would probably
spend all my free time DLing things and never get a chance to play any
games.

Dang, and I thought that would be an easy question, I was just trying
to save myself from having to search the web, I sure did'nt wan't you to
have to do it for me, thanks though :)

Well I guess I'm off to CompUSA, I'm pretty sure I saw a bunch of TA
stuff on their clearence racks not too long ago.

Thanks for your help

That definatly sounds interesting, what kind of editing is required? Is
it just some ini tweaking or do I need to dust off the hex editor?

Oh, I did find a way to adjust build restrictions, I started a mplayer
game on my LAN. Kinda a pain controlling two players at the beginning
but it was still fun. Unfortunatly the second PC (a P233) just is'nt up
to the challange of a 500 unit maximum and a big map, it usually crashes
at about 300 units :(

Good to know, thanks. I just wish TAE did'nt crash all the time on me.
I found another editor though (at the site Richard posted) and hopefully
it's better behaved.

I really wish I had stuck with this game back when it was new,
unfortunaly my PC at the time was only capable of running TA decently at
640x480 which made playing tedious. You cannot imagine my delight when I
reinstalled it recently, cranked the res to 1600x1200, and watched it
run smooth as butta :)

You just need the hpiview util. Open the missions file and you'll find the
unitrestrictions. You can edit these with any text editor. I'm sure there r
some utils to do this for you with a nice layout, but I havent really looked
for em.

Thanks, I DLed it the other night, hopefully I'll get a chance to muck

Thanks again
