Need Help!!

Trying to run an internal TCP/IP game. Main computer hosting game, two
other computers can see game when using TCP/IP, but only 1 can connect. The
other computer can see game, but when trying to join, it starts to, but then
goes back into update mode and doesn't join the game.

The game is open to 10 players, all 3 computers are using the same version
of TA, with Core Contingency pack installed.

I've even tried setting up IPX on all 3 but doesn't work.

Main computer - Windows XP
Other computers - Windows 2000

Is there a utility I can run to host games? I could go to Gamespy, but all
3 use the same cable modem connection, with Windows XP sharing the main
connection, and Gamespy I don't think will let us use the internal IP
addresses.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Is the TCP/IP protocol set to DHCP og a static adress???

Try to use the flowing IP adresses for a test:

Machine1:
IP: 192.168.1.10
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0

Machine2:
IP: 192.168.1.11
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0

Machine3:
IP: 192.168.1.12
SUBNET: 255.255.255.0

If you have enabled the firewall on XP, try to disable it!

If you have any other firewall products you may also try to disable them!

Regards,
Emil

The IP's are all static. 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.2, and 192.168.0.1

But I do have the XP firewall turned on. I'll give that a shot. Thanks.

Just thought about something else though (Same poster as the original, just
using a different account)

Both of the computers trying to connec to the main computer run Windows
2000. One can connect fine, the other can't, so could that be a firewall
issue? The one that cant connect can see my game, but when he joins it goes
back into update mode and doesn't connect.

Just more info. thanks.

The IP's from machine 1 and 3 are the same causing the conflict. Change one
of em to 192.168.0.3 and it will work fine.

No that was a typo. It's 1,2,3 at the end of the string on the computers.

Hi again,

Yes, i can be a firewall issue! If the firewall on one of the clients
blocking a port that the TA server tryes to send data to you got a problem!

Most games send and recives data in multi player. Most games send to other
clients and recive from them, if a port is closed and the client try to send
data it wont get there...

Hi hope you understand my bad english!

Regards,
Emil
